Frequently Asked Questions
1
Can I get waxed if I am on my period?
Yes, you are absolutely able to get waxed on your period as long as you have a tampon or menstrual cup in. You may be a bit more sensitive when you are on your period and experience more discomfort during your wax.
2
Can I get waxed while I am pregnant?
Yes, absolutely. If you are at all worried about getting serviced it never hurts to get confirmation from your doctor that you are cleared to be waxed. You may be more sensitive and experience more discomfort during your wax.
3
Is there anything I can do to prepare for or make my wax easier?
If time allows, start exfoliating your skin 3x a week and moisturizing every day leading up to your appointment. Make sure to be staying hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment as well as the day of. On the day of your appointment, you may take a pain killer 30 mins before to help with the discomfort. I recommend wearing loose, comfy clothing to your appointment as well. Avoid caffeine if possible for 5 hours before your appointment as caffeine can make the skin more sensitive.
4
Can I get waxed if I am taking Accutane?
No, you are not eligible for a wax if you are currently taking Accutane or any form of Accutane no matter the dosage. You must be done with Accutane for a full 6 months before you can get waxed again. This is not just for the face but for waxing services as a whole.
5
Can I get waxed if I am using retinol, Vitamin A or tretinoin?
Yes, however you must stop the use of all active ingredients such as vitamin A, Retinol, Retin-a, AHAs, BHAs, and tretinoin 7 days before your wax and refrain from using these products for 7 days after your wax as well. The continued use of these products leading up to your wax can cause skin lifting or bruising. If you are using these products but not receiving a facial wax you can continue to use them.
6
Can I get waxed if I have hemorroids, an active herpes breakout, open skin lesions, a sunburn, or HS?
Yes, you CAN still be waxed if you have HS or hemorroids. You absolutely CANNOT be waxed if you are experiencing an active sunburn, herpes or cold sore breakout or have open skin lesions. This is to protect your skin and keep myself as well as my other clients safe.
7
Where can i park?
The mall offers many different options for parking. The closest parking lot is the East Parking Deck, located to the left of the Macy's. Parking is $2. I recommend entering the mall through the parking lot and NOT through Macy's, as the Salon is closest to the parking lot entrance.
8
Are you judging my vulva/body?
Absolutely not. I have been waxing for nearly 5 years. I have seen every shape and sized vulva and body. The only thing I am concerned about is the health of your skin, your comfortability, and how I can best support your waxing journey. I do not care if you have stretch marks, loose skin, scars, hyperpigmentation, cysts, boils, hemorrhoids, unpolished toe nails, or if you exist in a plus size body.
9
if i do not want to complete the service am i allowed to stop in the middle?
Yes, absolutely. I am a consent based waxer and try really hard to make sure my clients feel completely safe in my suite. If you ever need to take a break in the middle of the wax or want to stop the service all together, I will always stop. If you have specific boundaries or do not like the way something feels please communicate with me and I will respect those boundaries. If we end up stopping in the middle of the service I will only charge for what we have completed, not the full price of the service.
10
can i ask for extra accommodations?
Yes, absolutely. In my consent form there is a section where you are able to write in any extra accommodations you might need. Whether that be because of a disability, trauma, age, etc. You do not have to disclose the reason why you are asking for the accommodation.
11
is there something specific i should wear to my appointment?
I recommend wearing loose and comfy clothing to your appointment. Clothing will not impact your wax but it is nice to put on something loose and relaxing after a wax, especially for a first time brazilian. Coming in comfy clothing can also help you feel more relaxed during your wax because you came in not overstimulated or uncomfortable.
12
how long should my hair be before getting waxed?
Your hair should be about 1/4 of an inch, about the length of a rainbow sprinkle or grain of rice. I recommend growing out your hair for at least 2 weeks before coming in for your first wax. After your first wax thee typical cadence for waxing is every 4-6 weeks.
13
how long does a brazilian wax typically take?
A first time client brazilian can be anywhere from 15-20 minutes depending on how well the skin has been prepped. A brazilian appointment is booked for 25 minutes incase you need to take a break and so neither you or I feel rushed.
14
can i bring someone with me for moral support?
Yes. I ask that you do not bring more than one person and please do not invite your partner, especially if you are receiving a brazilian wax. This is to ensure you have full autonomy over your appointment and we can discuss your skin needs without the potential influence of someone else.
15
Does the wax include anything i could possibly be alleregic to?
The wax that I use us called Sensi Clear by Waxness. This wax is formulated without any dyes, additives, or typical allergens. It is also formulated for sensitive skin. If you would like to do additional research the button below will take you to the wax's Material SDS.

How long have you been a practicing esthetician?
I have been a practicing esthetician since 2022. I started my career in Arizona and worked there as a waxer for about a year before moving to Colorado and continuing my waxing career at the same waxing chain. In March of 2026 I left that job and opened Waxing Crescent by Lu. My 5 year anniversary of being licensed is in March of 2027
